  • Yes we have very knowledgeable trained guides who provide fantastic information in a fun and entertaining manner both at Sarah Island and Heritage Landing. A guide is on-board all day for help you need and to answer any questions you may have.

  • You will be allocated seats at the time of your booking. You can book the section of the boat you would like to sit in, and then your allocated seats are yours for the whole cruise. You are certainly able to walk around the whole boat throughout the cruise.

  • You do keep this seat throughout the cruise, however you are more than welcome to walk about the whole boat throughout the cruise and there are outside seating areas you can enjoy while you are not in your allocated seat.

  • There are no additional fees when paying with a credit card. We have EFTPOS available on the boat however this service does not work throughout the cruise so it is advisable to take some cash on the cruise if you wish to purchase any additional snacks or drinks.

  • You can walk about the boat as much as you wish. With a very spacious boat layout with plenty of outside deck areas including outside seats anyone can use, you can enjoy all areas of the boat and always have your allocated seat to return to.

  • While we do have the facilities to do so, the internet service is patchy and we do advise you carry some cash. We conveniently have an ATM in our cruise terminal where you board the boat for this exact purpose.

  • Yes absolutely, we have great discounted family rates to make it an affordable and enjoyable experience for travelling families. Family tickets are for 2 adults and up to 3 children.

  • 65 nautical miles, approx 120 klm. Macquarie Harbour is 3 times the size of Sydney Harbour and to put this into context, it is 40km from Strahan to the mouth of The Gordon River!

  • You have access to the whole boat! There are four outdoor decks on Harbour Master II. Two on the Main Deck, one on the Upper Deck which has some cover and some outdoor seating with tables? The Captains Deck has a very large viewing area with seating for fantastic viewing and photo opportunities!

Weather and Wardrobe

  • The weather is very changeable on the West Coast, it is best to be prepared by bringing along a rain jacket and an extra layer for your on shore guided walking experiences.

  • We advise you wear comfortable clothing that you can easily layer if the weather is inclement. It is advisable to bring a rain jacket and some warm layers.

  • We suggest comfortable footwear that is suitable for walking.

  • Absolutely not. Our beautiful Tasmanian built catamaran has been designed and constructed to suit the West Coast Tasmania conditions and can handle any weather that is thrown our way. The large stable vessel is the ideal way to cruise Macquarie Harbour and The Gordon River.

  • While we can organise amazing scenery and a fantastic cruise, we can not determine the weather on the day you cruise. But no matter what time of the day you are on the Gordon River, if the weather is cooperating you are very likely to experience the amazing reflections on The Gordon River.
